About the role

UNW have an exciting opportunity for an AAT Apprentice to join our busy, nationally-recognised Dental accounts team in a successful and rapidly growing professional services firm.

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification is the perfect start if you’re looking to study for a professional qualification in accounting.

The apprenticeship programme takes between two to three years to complete and you’ll learn both practical and technical skills to equip you for a future in business.

UNW’s apprenticeship scheme is the perfect platform to launch your career in accounting, aiding your personal and professional development and enabling you to gain experiences that will stay with you throughout your working life. Working towards your AAT Levels 3 and 4 qualifications, you will gain vital experience and work on a variety of projects across our Dental Accounts department. At the end of the programme, you will have completed a Level 4 apprenticeship (Professional Accounting Technician). The scheme consists of first-class on-the-job training, coupled with both classroom-based training and remote-learning with Kaplan.

Future Prospects

At the end of the three-year program it is hoped that, in addition to gaining significant experience through day to day work at UNW, each student will have earned the AAT Levels 3 and 4 qualifications and would wish to progress to a further professional qualification to become a Chartered Accountant or Certified Accountant.

UNW currently provides support for students studying for these qualifications and, subject to satisfactory performance on the initial Apprenticeship Programme and demonstrating commitment towards the next qualification.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Learn the basics of accounting and bookkeeping
  • Preparation of sole trade, partnership and limited company accounts from client records
  • Provide support for members of the dental accounts department (as part of compliance and outsourcing work)
  • Collate, check and analyse data
  • Reconcile client book-keeping software

About you

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following selection criteria:

Essential skills:

  • Attention to detail
  • Team working
  • Able to analyse data/information
  • Good IT skills are essential and knowledge of Microsoft Office, including a good understanding of Excel would be an advantage
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Qualifications:

  • Grade B or equivalent in Maths and English Language
  • Minimum BBB or equivalent at A-level
