Job Title: Deal Advisory Executive – Corporate Finance & Transaction Services

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne – city centre

Contract Type: Full-time, permanent (37 hours per week)

 

About UNW Deal Advisory

UNW’s Deal Advisory team is one of the most active advisory teams in the North East, working with entrepreneurial businesses, private equity investors and corporates across a wide range of transactions.

Our 15-strong team, including three Partners, delivers high-quality, partner-led advice spanning sell-side and buy-side transactions, due diligence, strategic advisory projects and grant support services.

We pride ourselves on a collaborative, ambitious and supportive culture, where Executives work closely with senior colleagues, take on early responsibility and gain broad experience across Corporate Finance and Transaction Services.

The role at a glance

We are looking for an ACA-qualified Executive with three years’ experience in accountancy to join our growing Deal Advisory team.

The role offers broad exposure across Corporate Finance and Transaction Services, including financial due diligence, buy-side and sell-side transaction support, valuation and financial analysis, preparation of marketing materials, transaction project management, and involvement in business development initiatives.

You will support colleagues, contribute to a positive team environment, share knowledge and take initiative to improve processes, while also participating in wider team and firm activities.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Support & Due Diligence

  • Support the planning and delivery of buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence assignments
  • Analyse trading performance, cash flow and balance sheet trends
  • Review forecasts and underlying assumptions
  • Identify key issues, risks and value drivers
  • Assist in drafting due diligence reports
  • Review deal documentation, ensuring due diligence findings are appropriately reflected
  • Liaise with clients, target companies, counterparties and advisors to gather information
  • Liaise with businesses looking for grant funding and support with applications
  • Review grant applications, assessing viability and financial forecasts

 

Corporate Finance Execution

  • Support the preparation of Information Memoranda and marketing materials
  • Assist with financial modelling and valuation analysis
  • Contribute to transaction project management
  • Support negotiations and documentation reviews
  • Maintain progress updates and communicate key findings

 

Financial & Commercial Analysis

  • Conduct detailed financial and commercial analysis
  • Prepare databooks, dashboards and analysis packs
  • Perform comparable company, transaction and valuation benchmarking
  • Identify trends, anomalies and key deal considerations

 

Client Engagement

  • Communicate directly with clients and stakeholders
  • Maintain strong working relationships and deliver a high-quality service
  • Build and develop early-stage professional networks

 

Business Development

  • Assist with pitch materials and proposals
  • Support watchlists, sector updates and deal pipeline activity
  • Contribute to internal initiatives and team meetings

What we’re looking for

  • ACA qualified, with strong accounting and financial analysis skills
  • Three years’ experience in accountancy
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyse large datasets efficiently
  • Excellent report-writing skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong commercial awareness and communication skills
  • A proactive approach to business development, with an interest in developing your own professional network
  • Motivated and keen to develop and progress within the team
  • Prior Corporate Finance or Transaction Services experience is not required, but any exposure to these areas would be advantageous
