Audit Seniors (Qualified and part-qualified)

Report to:  Audit & Assurance Partners and Managers

Hours of work: Permanent, 37hrs hours per week

Location: Newcastle City Centre

Following a number of exciting client wins, we’re currently recruiting at all levels in our Audit and Assurance department from part-qualified Audit Assistants through to Qualified Audit Seniors and Managers.

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of audits across our diverse and ever-expanding range of clients which includes entrepreneurial and private equity backed companies, national and international groups, as well as charitable organisations and not-for-profit entities.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • A dynamic and varied role including:
  • Leading the on site fieldwork for a range of audit clients
  • Supervising more junior team members
  • Preparing reports, commentaries and financial statements
  • Liaising with managerial staff and presenting findings and recommendations
  • Examining company accounts and financial control systems
  • Identifying if and where processes are not working as they should and advising on changes to be made

Skills Required

  • Equipment and Systems: Excellent computer skills with good knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
  • Communication: Whilst primary communication will be with clients and the relevant partners and managers with the audit and assurance department, the role will likely result in working with colleagues across various functions within the firm.  Given the scope of the role and close knit nature of the team, together with the open plan layout of the office, a general awareness of all work being undertaken across the department and by the wider team is important.
  • Development: Training will be obtained on the job through exposure to the range of work on offer and interaction with other departments alongside formal training at Kaplan working towards completing the ACA qualification (if applicable). Additional training courses will be identified on an ongoing basis to assist with further development and full support will be provided by existing team members.   Continuing professional development is provided for all qualified staff.
  • Personal Qualities: Confident verbal and written communicator including good presentation and report writing skills with the ability to deal with clients and staff at all levels, demonstrating initiative and forward thinking together with excellent interpersonal and team working skills.  The role requires someone who is efficient with an organised, thorough and diligent approach to work, who can prioritise tasks, effectively project manage both their own activities that of more junior team members and be able to work to deadlines under pressure.  The role would suit someone who is self-motivated, determined and confident in their own abilities.  Meticulous attention to detail, and excellent problem solving skills and a keen interest in the financial system are essential.

Qualifications:

  • Qualifications: Recently ACA qualified, or working towards the ACA qualification with 2 years experience under an existing training contract.
