Planning for the future of a business – and the personal estates of its owners – is one of the most important, yet often overlooked, aspects of business ownership.
This breakfast seminar will explore key Inheritance Tax (IHT) considerations for business owners alongside practical succession planning strategies, reviewing some of the options available to help protect long-term value. The session will include a presentation, Q&A, and time for informal networking.
We will focus on the issues that matter in practice, including recent and upcoming changes to the tax rules, and how early planning may provide greater flexibility and peace of mind.
What we’ll cover:
- Summarising Inheritance Tax in the context of business assets, including upcoming legislative changes
- Understanding Business Property Relief (BPR) and its limitations, and why careful planning should still be considered despite the threshold increases announced on 23 December
- Structuring a business for succession and continuity, while retaining flexibility and control
- Actions to consider and the importance of timely, joined-up advice
- Succession planning options, including family transitions and transactions involving third parties
Our speakers will include specialists from UNW’s tax and deal advisory teams, bringing together technical expertise with commercial and practical insight.
