UNW hosts accounting update with a difference as businesses prepare for FRS 102 changes

UNW news /  19 March 2026

North East independent accountancy and business advisory firm UNW recently welcomed around 100 finance leaders and business representatives from across the region to The Catalyst in Newcastle for a seminar exploring the amendments to FRS 102, the UK’s principal accounting standard used by many medium-sized and privately owned businesses.

The session, led by experts from across UNW’s audit, tax and deal advisory teams and featuring guest insight from Aaron Lawson-Clark of LDC, looked beyond the technical detail behind what is widely regarded as the biggest financial reporting update in a decade, focusing on what the changes will mean in practice for businesses and their finance teams.

Alongside the accounting updates, the discussion also explored the wider implications for organisations – from commercial considerations through to potential tax impacts and how the changes may influence funding, investment and transactions.
