The Recruitment Process

Here’s how our graduate recruitment process works, step by step:

Application

Apply online via the form on our website. You’ll need to upload your CV and can include a cover letter. We’ll also ask for your academic grades and a few personal details.

Review

Our hiring team reviews every application, and if you’re successful, you’ll be invited to complete a short online assessment.

Online assessment

You’ll complete a verbal reasoning and a numerical reasoning test:

  • Numerical reasoning assesses how you interpret data, charts, and perform calculations.
  • Verbal reasoning assesses your understanding of written information and ability to make logical deductions.

Assessment Centre

If you pass the online tests, you’ll be invited to attend an in-person graduate assessment day. This typically includes a mix of exercises such as:

  • An in-tray exercise to simulate real work scenarios
  • A group exercise/case study to assess teamwork, communication and decision-making
  • An individual interview focused on the behaviours and competencies we look for

You’ll also have the chance to meet some of our current graduate trainees, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and hear first-hand what it’s like to work at UNW.

Feedback

We’ll be in touch with all candidates after the assessment centre to share feedback.

Offer

If successful, you’ll receive a verbal offer followed by a formal offer of employment via email.

Onboarding

Once you accept, our onboarding team will guide you through the next steps, including:

  • Pre-employment checks (right to work, DBS, references)
  • Completion of new starter forms

We’ll check in regularly over the summer to keep you updated and help you prepare. You’ll also be invited to social events like our summer party, so you can get to know your future colleagues.

Starting at UNW

Typically, our graduates start in early September. Each year, we recruit around a dozen graduates and apprentices who all start together, forming a close-knit intake from day one. You’ll go through a structured induction programme as a group, helping you settle in, get to know each other, and feel part of the team straight away.
