UNW on a roll thanks to new collaboration with CIPP

UNW news /  15 May 2024

North East independent chartered accountancy and business advisory firm UNW has announced a new collaboration with The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) which will see the firm’s specialist Employment Taxes Team offering wider employment tax support to CIPP members.

CIPP Consult, a wholly owned subsidiary of the CIPP, offers compliance health checks in payroll processes and procedures to ensure their members are complying with legislation to avoid large penalties. Its ‘PAYE health check’ product has been developed to support employers in reviewing what payroll departments are doing, identifying risk areas and then recommending innovative improvements to processes and ways of working.

As either a stand-alone exercise, or as an add-on to a CIPP review, UNW’s award-winning team is geared up to support CIPP members with an in-depth assessment of employment tax compliance, building on and broadening out the excellent work that CIPP Consult already does.

UNW’s Employment Taxes Team has vast experience in providing consultancy advice to employers throughout the UK, from owner-managed businesses through to large multi-nationals, across a wide range of sectors.

Delivering comprehensive advice and support on all aspects of employment tax, from both a compliance and advisory perspective, the team can guide employers through a range of matters including salary sacrifice and employee benefits and expenses, termination pay, employment status, share options as well as overseas and expatriate advice.

Natasha Taylor, Consultancy Relationship Lead at The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals, said: “We decided to partner with UNW’s Employment Taxes Team not only due to their vast employment tax compliance knowledge, but also because of their flexible and thorough approach. This is greatly beneficial to our clients as our PAYE health check does not include a greater depth review into employment tax specifically. Being able to offer this additional service to our clients ensures they have the option of a well-rounded, complete service.”

David Paul, Senior Employment Taxes Specialist at UNW, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to support the CIPP on this initiative and to provide support to its members. The CIPP has a very strong brand and is well known for the quality of its training and other services that it provides to its members. This aligns with the strength and experience of the UNW employment tax team.”
