Newcastle-based independent chartered accountancy and business advisory firm UNW has been named Transaction Services Team of the Year at the 2026 Insider North East Dealmakers Awards – the second time the firm has won the award in three years.
The award recognises the achievements of UNW’s Transaction Services team, which has continued to grow its presence in the regional deals market, supporting businesses, investors, banks and public sector organisations undertaking acquisitions, financing and investment activity across the UK.
Led by Partner Danny Malone, the team secured 21 due diligence appointments during the award’s qualifying period, advising on transactions with individual deal values ranging from £1 million to £20 million.
The team combines specialist financial due diligence expertise with practical, commercially focused advice, helping clients understand the risks and opportunities associated with transactions and make informed investment decisions.
It has also developed strong relationships with acquisitive businesses, private equity-backed groups and institutional investors, securing repeat appointments from clients including ClearCourse, United Infrastructure, Edwin and TSG.
Danny Malone, Transaction Services Partner at UNW, said: “Winning this award for the second time in three years is a fantastic achievement for the team and something we’re all really pleased about.
“We’ve worked hard to build a team with the experience and capacity to support clients on a wide variety of transactions. It’s particularly pleasing to see that work recognised, and I’m grateful to everyone in the team for the contribution they’ve made, as well as our clients for continuing to put their trust in us.”
There was further recognition for UNW on the night, with Maven Capital Partners’ investment in iPac Packaging Solutions, a transaction on which the firm advised, named Deal of the Year (sub-£5m).
UNW also received three further nominations, including Corporate Finance Advisory Firm of the Year, an award the firm won in 2025, while Corporate Finance Partner Nick Broadhead was shortlisted for Dealmaker of the Year.
The latest recognition adds to a strong period for UNW’s wider Deal Advisory team, which brings together Corporate Finance, Transaction Services and Grants specialists, working closely with the firm’s Tax team to provide joined-up advice and support to clients across the North East and beyond.
